Training update from Carrington

Anthony Martial trained with the main group of Manchester United players at Carrington on Tuesday but will not be rushed back for the visit of Atalanta.

The France international was not 100 per cent fit when he returned from his UEFA Nations League duty and subsequently missed the Premier League clash with Leicester City on Saturday.

Martial, who scored in his last outing for the Reds against Everton, is clearly getting closer to being available but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told club media that the forward will not be ready in time for the Group F encounter at Old Trafford.

There appeared to be a determined mood in the camp ahead of the game, with Solskjaer's side looking to move above Atalanta in the table by winning this third fixture in the group.

Club captain Harry Maguire also took part in the session, after he and Marcus Rashford made their comeback from injury in the 4-2 defeat to Leicester City, with the latter getting on the scoresheet in the second half.

Former Atalanta man Amad is also with the main squad after overcoming his thigh problem and he would certainly love to be involved against the club where he first made his mark in the professional game.

However, the manager has suggested the Ivory Coast international's first outing this season is likely to be with the Under-23s.

Anthony Elanga was another of the younger players involved in the session, as he continues to impress for Neil Wood's side as well as Sweden's Under-21s.
