Tranmere v United: Essential information

Friday 24 January 2020 13:21

Manchester United travel to Birkenhead on Sunday to face Tranmere Rovers in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup.

Juan Mata’s strike was enough to see off Wolves in the third round, while Rovers secured their place in the last 32 thanks to a 2-1 extra-time win over Watford, in a tie which went to a replay after a 3-3 draw at Vicarage Road.

It’s only our second-ever meeting with Rovers, after a League Cup tie in 1976, and you can keep up to date with everything that happens this time round through our live match web blog on ManUtd.com and via the Official App, where you can track live data and player statistics in the Match Centre.

Here’s all the essential info ahead of our first-ever senior trip to Prenton Park…

WHO IS THE REFEREE?

Lee Mason has been confirmed as the man with the whistle on Sunday. The Portsmouth-born official will take charge of his second United match of the season, after our 2-0 defeat to Watford at Vicarage Road in December. Mason will be assisted by Simon Bennett and Daniel Robathan, with Darren Bond as the fourth official. As Prenton Park is not a Premier League ground, VAR will not be in use for this tie.

Lee Mason will referee Sunday's match at Prenton Park.
