United boosted ahead of vital Tottenham match

Manchester United’s first-team squad was pictured at the Aon Training Complex on Thursday as preparations for Saturday's crunch Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur stepped up.

Marcus Rashford was part of the session in spite of media reports which claimed the Academy graduate was a doubt for the Reds’ upcoming match at Old Trafford, after the England striker was substituted after 67 minutes during Tuesday's 2-0 Carabao Cup win over Swansea City.

Phil Jones was named on the bench at the Liberty Stadium due to injury, but he trained on Thursday morning and Jose Mourinho has confirmed the defender is ready to face Spurs if required.

The manager also named regular starters Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Nemanja Matic on the bench in midweek, perhaps freshening up their legs for this weekend’s big game.

Eric Bailly, who has not featured since late September, also took part in train and Mourinho admitted ahead of the trip to Huddersfield the Ivorian defender could return against Tottenham.

IS HARRY KANE A DOUBT?

Tottenham made wholesale changes in their dramatic Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham United at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday night, in which they led by two goals but amazingly lost 3-2.

Star man and top scorer Harry Kane did not even make the matchday squad and Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino, while speaking to broadcaster beIN Sports, hinted at a possible issue.

“We need to assess the team because we were forced to rotate for different reasons and we'll see what happens in the next few days,” he said.

When questioned directly about Kane, the former Southampton manager answered: “We'll see, we'll see.”

United's Premier League match with Tottenham will kick off at 12:30 BST on Saturday
HERRERA TARGETS A KEY VICTORY

Speaking to MUTV in midweek, Ander discussed the team’s determination to beat title rivals Tottenham at Old Trafford. “Sometimes, during the season, you have one or two really bad games and Huddersfield was one of them. We want to forget, we want to look forward, we want to get good feelings and now we are playing against a top team like Tottenham.

“There are good feelings so let’s move forward and let’s try to win against Tottenham because it’s not going to be easy. We have a massive game on Saturday and we need to win.

"I think our fans have to realise that we need them. We need them to beat those top teams, they always help us,” the midfielder said. “Last season, we beat them at Old Trafford and the fans were supporting us all the way, so we need it again.”
