Impressive fan wins Amorim signed shirt!
One lucky Manchester United fan has won a 2024/25 home shirt signed by Ruben Amorim, for correctly predicting our new head coach’s first starting XI against Ipswich Town.
Twelve impressive supporters successfully guessed the make-up of Ruben’s maiden Reds side for Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Portman Road, via the United Predictions game in our app, but there could only be one winner.
Felicity Raphahlelo from South Africa was chosen as our victor at random, having accurately anticipated all 11 of the players in Amorim’s line-up.
90 in 20: Ipswich v United
90 in 20 | Presenting extended highlights of our first top-flight meeting with Ipswich since 2002...
Our new boss opting to go with his preferred 3-4-3 formation that he used at Sporting – a new system for United – made our correct predictors’ guesses all the more admirable.
Felicity and co rightly forecasted that Andre Onana would play behind a back three, which featured Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt and Jonny Evans, with Amad and Diogo Dalot flanking it as wing-backs.
Casemiro and Christian Eriksen partnering each other in midfield was also identified in advance by our winner, as was the front three of Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford – the latter being United’s goalscorer on the afternoon and Felicity’s favourite player.
In total, over 150,000 fans played United Predictions ahead of the Ipswich clash, with more than 129,000 attempting to foretell Ruben’s thinking with his starting XI.
Guesses were made by supporters from more than 200 countries across the globe, with the United Kingdom (26%), Nigeria (13%), Kenya (6%), South Africa (5%) and the United States (4%) the top five for those with the most submissions.
Congratulations to our winner Felicity and thank you to everyone who got involved!
