United Style: Retro Robbo

Shirts are relics, memories in physical form even.

They're released ahead of a new season, and then as the players wear them, memories on and off the pitch are made in them. It might be one moment that immortalises it, it could be a goal, a save, or a tackle. Or even that memory of where you were when that specific moment happened, it's something that stays in your mind forever.

A couple of weeks ago, we had the pleasure of Bryan Robson blessing us with his presence at Old Trafford to take some of the latest Retro collection for a spin. You can check it out here.

The sun was shining down on us in the Stretford End as we took a stroll around the stadium bowl with Bryan, as he told us some stories from his time at United and shared some of his fondest memories on the pitch.
Not one to shy away from anything, Bryan quickly whipped on the 1994 Home Shirt and took to the pitch to remind us of his playing days.

Instantly recognisable by the Sharp sponsor, this retro beauty features an old-school draw-string neck closure and an embroidered club badge on the chest.
The 1973 Retro Shirt is a nod to the days when we were blessed to witness the likes of Bobby Charlton, George Best and Denis Law grace the pitch.

This beauty of a shirt is constructed from a soft cotton and features the iconic number 7 on the back, with an embroidered club crest completing the look.
Bryan donned the 1999 Champions League Final jersey next. This lovely number is a replica of the shirt in which we completed the unprecedented Treble 22 years ago, thanks to a goal from a certain Norwegian who is at the helm of the club today.

It’s made from a super-soft polyester and features a classic collar, embroidered branding and the iconic Sharp sponsor on the chest.

Perfect for match days, perfect for reliving an unforgettable season.
This next one is from a while before Bryan’s time, and it’s the 1963 FA Cup Final Retro Shirt.

You might see a little bit of this season's kit in the 1963 jersey, with the white trimmings standing out.

It was worn by the legends then, and a new adaption is being worn by our legends now - it’s only right we had a legend from between those eras to show it off in all of its glory!
Finally, the 1968 European Cup Final Shirt is a memento from the night when United famously beat Benfica 4-1 at Wembley. This replica is made from a luxuriously-soft cotton, and features a timelessly cool, heritage club logo that is embroidered on the chest.

Relive history in style, the United way. The Retro Range is available now on United Direct
