Skinner hopeful Galton can face Brighton

Thursday 30 April 2026 09:30

Marc Skinner hopes departing Manchester United winger Leah Galton can make her return from injury in Saturday's Barclays Women's Super League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

An ongoing back issue has prevented Galton from playing so far in 2026, but our no.11 is in training and Skinner says he will find out over the next couple of days if she will be available.

It was announced on Wednesday that Leah will be leaving the club in the summer after eight proud years, so a return to action in our final home game of the season would be a welcome sight.

PRESS CONFERENCE | Marc Skinner speaks about Leah Galton and an in-form Brighton side, before Saturday's WSL game...

“I’m not sure yet whether Leah [will be available],” Marc began, delivering our team news to reporters during Thursday morning's pre-match press conference.

“Leah was training the other day, so hopefully she can play some part in the game. We’ll find that out probably today or tomorrow.

“Everyone else is back and in barring Teri [Elisabeth Terland] and Dom [Janssen], who are back training on the field. This has probably come a little bit too early, so maybe the Chelsea game they could be back and be involved.

“I think what was great in the Tottenham game was we had players back that are now able to play more minutes. We had limited time on some of them, so that means we’ve got almost everyone back going into two games where we’ve obviously got to try and get the points.”

Janssen and Terland may not be ready to return yet, but Saturday's game should be an opportunity for Anna Sandberg, Ella Toone and Ellen Wangerheim to build up more minutes.

The trio made their comebacks from respective sideline spells as second-half substitutes at Spurs, bolstering the squad going into our final two WSL matches against Brighton and Chelsea.

Academy graduate Layla Drury is expected to be out for the remainder of the season with an injury sustained on international duty, while Celin Bizet Donnum remains unavailable as she prepares to have a baby.
