United’s all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney said hello to Michael Carrick and the Reds while visiting Carrington this week.

The club icon returned to the training ground to record an episode of his BBC Sport podcast, The Wayne Rooney Show, featuring our current captain Bruno Fernandes

The duo sat down in the main building at Carrington - a facility that has changed dramatically since Wayne’s time - to discuss all things United and more.

BACK TO BASE

As you can see in our photos above, Wayne spent time chatting with his former team-mate Michael ahead of Wednesday morning’s training session at Carrington.

The pair played together at United for 11 seasons, sharing the pitch on 366 occasions.

Amazingly, they lifted 12 major trophies during that time, including five Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup.
While greeting the squad, Rooney was clearly delighted to see another former team-mate in Tom Heaton, from the goalkeeper’s first spell as a Red.

Wayne is also pictured embracing young Tyler Fletcher, son of fellow United legend Darren Fletcher.
