What's the story behind the gold jacket at United?

If you follow the United players on social media, there is something you might have been wondering over the last few months.

What is the story behind the sparkly gold jacket?

Several members of Michael Carrick's squad have been pictured in the snazzy piece, including Leny Yoro, who clarified that he had to sport the look for losing a crossbar challenge.

As a one-off forfeit between team-mates, that made sense, until Ayden Heaven posted a video of Amad wearing the same jacket a few weeks ago.

Did the Ivorian lose a crossbar challenge too, or is he particularly fond of the design?

MUTV's Liam Bradford had the chance to put the question to him while he was on the training-ground sofas for the latest episode of our Inside Carrington podcast.

“That was a joke between me and Ayden,” Amad said on the podcast, with a big smile on his face.

“Leny [had to wear it] because he lost a bet in training.

“Honestly, I don’t know about this story but I think it was Joshua [Zirkzee] who bought that jacket.”

The jacket also cropped up as a talking point on the 'Who Am I?' feature published by Sky Sports last week, featuring Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes.

Looking at a picture of Yoro in the striking gold attire, Dalot said: “He lost a crossbar challenge!”

Fernandes added: “Him and Matta [De Ligt had to wear it] but no one has the photos of him because he came too early and he ran away.

“Amad wears it because he wants, it’s just banter I think.”

Amad wasn't wearing the jacket during his Inside Carrington podcast, but the episode is still very much worth a watch! See it in full here.
