What was De Gea's nickname at school?
David De Gea has revealed which nickname he picked up during his time at school in Spain.
The Manchester United keeper was the latest Red to take part in our Fans' Q&A series and we received thousands of responses from supporters keen to learn more about one of our longest-serving players.
One question, posted by Yusuf in the UK, was simply: 'What was your nickname in school?'
“Thanks, Yusuf," David replied. "I think people normally used to say De Gea – my name, my surname. De Gea and some, I don’t know how to say it in English, but probably ‘Blondie’ as I was blond when I was young.
"They called me Blondie and De Gea.”
So the music-loving keeper shared his nickname with a famous band of the past but he also answered more serious questions, such as one from Haziq in Singapore, asking for the 31-year-old's philosophy or approach to life.
"Well, I think now many people are in difficult situations," he said. "Families and children. So, first of all, I would say peace in the world and try to make a better world for the next generations, for the children especially. For me, this is the most important thing.”
