FA Cup finals: What we know about our Wembley dates

Monday 24 April 2023 12:32

Following Sunday's Wembley success, Manchester United will play in both the men's and women's FA Cup finals for the first time in a single season.

Eight days on from United Women's semi-final triumph over Brighton, Erik ten Hag's team followed suit on Sunday evening, overcoming the south-coast club to reach the men's final of the prestigious competition.

It sets up two exciting days to look forward to at the national stadium, as the business end of the season continues to unfold for both of our senior teams.

United Women's maiden FA Cup final comes first up on the calendar, with Marc Skinner's side set to take on competition holders Chelsea on Sunday 14 May.

Kick-off at Wembley has been confirmed for 14:30 BST in that one, with supporters able to secure tickets now.

The following month, on Saturday 3 June, we will then return to the capital for an all-Manchester showdown with City in the men's final.

As of yet, the start time is still to be confirmed, however supporters can find more information on ticket sales here.

By facing Chelsea and Manchester City in the men's and women's finals respectively, United are the only club still competing for both trophies, and we can hope to achieve a historic double for the first time, across the two matches.

It will be the 11th time that a club has been represented in both of the finals, with Chelsea achieving the feat most recently in each of the last two campaigns.

After Ten Hag's side lifted the Carabao Cup at Wembley in February, and following on from Sunday's last-four success over Brighton, United are also set to be the club to have played the most matches at the 100-year-old venue in 2022/23.

The two finals will take our tally to four outings under the arch in this campaign, with City currently poised to end the term as next best on two.

The four appearances at Wembley will also match United's single-season record, set during the 1993/94 campaign.

The men's team defeated Arsenal there in the Charity - now Community - Shield at the start of that term, before returning in March for the League Cup final against Aston Villa, which the Villans triumphed 3-1 in.

Alex Ferguson's side were back at the national stadium just a few weeks later to draw the FA Cup semi-final with Oldham Athletic and, after that tie was settled via a replay at Maine Road, the Reds famously won the trophy in north London with a 4-0 victory over Chelsea in the final.
