When will we find out Cunha's shirt number?
Matheus Cunha’s move to Manchester United was confirmed on Thursday, with the Brazil forward also starring in the launch of our new home kit.
Naturally, fans are eager to know: which number will Matheus wear?
For now, we’ll all have to wait. His squad slot won’t be revealed yet.
Matheus has worn a huge array of different numbers throughout his career. He wore 70 at Sion, 20 at RB Leipzig, and a mix of 26, 10, and 9 during his time at Hertha Berlin.
At Atletico Madrid, he switched between 19 and 9. Most recently, at Wolves, he started with 12 before switching to 10 in 2024. On international duty with Brazil, he currently wears 21.
Cunha signs for United
ArticleThe Reds complete "one of our main priorities" for the summer.
So, which number will it be at United? Well, that’s still under wraps. We hope to find out in the coming weeks, with United’s players set to return from the summer break in July. Our pre-season fixtures kick off on 19 July with a clash against long-time rivals Leeds United in Stockholm, before we head Stateside for the Premier League Summer Series against West Ham United, Bournemouth and Everton. Expect to see our striking new home kit in action—and, hopefully, Cunha’s first minutes in red.
Supporters keen to get Cunha’s name on the back of the new shirt have a couple of options: order the kit now and come to Old Trafford to get the number printed once it’s announced, or wait for official confirmation and order through the United Store.
Make sure you keep notifications on to be the first to find out.
