Mason Greenwood training at Carrington

Which legend would Mason ask for advice?

Mason Greenwood is the latest Manchester United star to take part in one of our exclusive fans' Q&A sessions and he provided some excellent insight when responding to an excellent query.

Emma M, from the UK, submitted her poser which read: "If you could ask any ex-player any question to help you develop, what would it be and to whom?"

Mason, who joined us at Carrington to go through a wide variety of topics for an interview to be run in the near future, replied: “Hi Emma. The question I’d probably go to with is Wayne Rooney. He’s done it all and is the leading scorer.

“I’d probably just ask him, like not how he played because you can watch how he played, but any tips on how you can get in between defenders and how you can anticipate the game a bit more. Obviously, he scored hundreds and hundreds of goals for United. That would be the little question I would ask him.”

Of course, Mason will come face to face with our legendary leading marksman in the first friendly of our pre-season campaign on Sunday, when we take on Rooney's Derby County at 13:00 BST, live on MUTV.

Following his exit from Old Trafford, Rooney had spells with Everton, DC United and the Rams before hanging up his boots to take over as full-time manager of the Championship club.

It will be interesting to see if Mason gets a chance to have a word with one of his favourite players before or after the game. It would certainly be a case of past meeting the present from a United perspective and our 19-year-old forward's answer shows he is always keen to learn more when it comes to honing his talents in front of goal.

"We need to win trophies and that's our aim at the end of the season," he told United Daily this week. "Like last season, we missed out slightly, but hopefully next season will be a lot better."

Everything gets under way again for the Reds at the weekend and no doubt Mason will be looking to hit the ground running to continue where he left off last term.
