Fixtures: Who do we play around our European games?
Manchester United’s 2022/23 Premier League fixtures have been released in full this (Thursday) morning, with the schedule for Erik ten Hag’s first season starting to take shape.
The Reds will face Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the new campaign, in the first of five fixtures set to take place in August.
The dates and times of all league matches after matchday one are still subject to change however, and we are likely to see several alterations to the Reds’ schedule due to our participation in Europe.
Our Europa League campaign kicks off in early September and while we won’t know our group-stage opponents until the draw later this summer, we are now aware of who we will be playing around the six matchdays which have already been set in stone.

After: Crystal Palace (A), 10/09/2022
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal will be our sixth Premier League opponents of the new campaign before the focus switches to European matters for the first time this season. Our opening group-stage game will take place on Thursday 8 September, with a trip to Crystal Palace on the following weekend therefore likely to be pushed back to the Sunday or Monday.

Our European campaign resumes in October following the first Manchester derby of the season on the opening weekend of the autumn month. United’s matchday three outing will be sandwiched between short away trips in fact, with the journey over to Merseyside to take on Everton set for the weekend after.

Off the back of that visit to Selhurst Park, the Reds are set to compete in the Europa League in back-to-back weeks. A return to Old Trafford and a reunion with Leeds United will follow on from our matchday two fixture in mid-September.

After: West Ham United (H), 29/10/2022
Later in October, matchday five is preceded by a trip to Stamford Bridge before West Ham United are the visitors to the Theatre of Dreams in the days after. The Reds were 1-0 winners in the latter fixture in 2021/22, courtesy of a stoppage-time decider from Marcus Rashford.
