Manchester United drew 0-0 with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, in a Premier League match that saw Erik ten Hag's team show plenty of character following recent defeats to Bournemouth and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool started the match with much energy and, after weathering the early storm, United threatened the hosts.

In the second half, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund both had opportunities to win the game for Ten Hag's team, while the resilience of our defence and Andre Onana thwarted the advances of Jurgen Klopp's side.

Following the draw, United fans voted in our fan poll, with the winner being indicative of the solidity of the United backline.

Who do you think was United's Man of the Match against Liverpool?

With 36 per cent of the vote, Raphael Varane was the overriding winner in our Man of the Match poll, as the Frenchman put in block after block and won header after header to keep an important clean sheet.

Varane seemed to be in the right place at the right time over and over again and, alongside Jonny Evans, the duo's experience in significant matches shone through.

Second in the voting is Onana, who was calm on the ball when passing out from the back and once again produced some important saves to help us keep a clean sheet.

Andre received 23 per cent of the votes on our fan poll.

Academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo was the only other Red to receive double figures in the polling, with 15 per cent.

The 18-year-old looked composed in midfield and never seemed fazed by the atmosphere on Merseyside. He is proving to be a vital cog in Ten Hag's midfield and shows maturity well beyond his age.

Despite the influence of both Mainoo and Onana, it was Varane who emerged as the winner of our Man of the Match award - well done, Rapha!
