Bruno was at his brilliant best against the Toffees, and playing in a deeper midfield role, he displayed a magnificent range of passing, often finding his attacking team-mates in behind as we provided a constant threat on goal.

While our no.8 didn't get on the scoresheet himself, or indeed provide the assists against Everton, his contribution was sufficient enough to be recognised by our fans, who voted the Portuguese maestro as our Man of the Match for his typically all-action performance.

Manager Erik ten Hag was asked about the Bruno's contribution in the deeper role in his post-match press conference, and he says our no.8 is putting in "brilliant" performances there.

"When you miss players, you have to find solutions as a manager, as a coaching staff," said Erik. "When you are looking in the moment, Casemiro, Eriksen, when they are available, there’s no need to bring him [Fernandes] down.

"But in the moment you miss them, yeah, you have to find a solution to bring out the game from the back, to get the build-up in, to get progressing the ball to attack.

"We found the idea to bring Bruno down deeper and, yeah, he’s doing brilliant. I think he’s playing there [some] really good games."

Fernandes has certainly been in fine form throughout the campaign so far, and has appeared unaffected by his latest positional switch.

It’s now five Man-of-the-Match awards for the season for our versatile midfielder, who also won the award twice last month following our home wins over Real Betis and Fulham, and was named our Player of the Month for March too.
