Monday 02 October 2017 07:00

We appreciate it is tough to keep up with events surrounding our great club, Manchester United, which is why Your Monday Briefing is here to provide a round-up of the weekend...

1: FOUR MORE GOALS
Let’s start with the basics: United beat Crystal Palace 4-0 on Saturday to sign off for the international break in style. Juan Mata and Romelu Lukaku both scored, but it was Marouane Fellaini's double that unquestionably stole the show. He was Man of the Match award and fans on Twitter were buzzing, with Phil Neville sharing this meme...

2: A ONE-GOAL DIFFERENCE
The Reds climbed to the top of the Premier League with that success over the Eagles, but only for a few hours because Manchester City's 1-0 win against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge pushed them back to the summit on goal difference. Tottenham Hotspur are still five points adrift in third.

3: THREE MILESTONES ACHIEVED
With his late goal at Old Trafford, Lukaku became the first Manchester United player since the great Andy Cole in 1995 to score seven league goals in as many games. The big man is on fire and we're loving it!

David De Gea made it six clean sheets from the first seven Premier League matches, a feat the club has achieved only once before, in 1997/98.

Anthony Martial registered his 100th United appearance when he stepped off the bench as a substitute. The Frenchman marked it with as assist for Lukaku.

5: BECKS WAS BACK
The United legend was among the guests in the Director’s Box of the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand and, later, two photos were doing the rounds on social media. The first was of him with Game of Thrones actor John Bradley-West, who plays Samwell Tarly, and the other was a post-match snap with a jubilant Mourinho. Nice!

England manager Gareth Southgate said in a statement: “It’s fantastic to be able to acknowledge the contribution Sir Bobby has made."

7: UNDER-18S IN ACTION
The club's Under-18s continued their encouraging start to the 2017/18 Premier League campaign by recording a 1-1 draw against Everton at Finch Farm. Both goals, scored by Korede Adedoyin and Largie Ramazani, came in a hugely entertaining second half after neither side managed to break the deadlock before the break.

8: CHIELLINI JOINS COMMON GOAL
Let's finish on the happy note that Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini has signed up to Mata's Common Goal campaign, in which members of the football community donate one per cent of their income to charitable projects.
