Your United Pic: Sir Bobby Charlton

Tuesday 25 January 2022 13:30

Manchester United's three knights will all be represented when six new images - as selected by the club's legions of loyal supporters - are displayed outside the stadium.

Sir Bobby Charlton is the subject of the second poll in our new campaign, 'Your United Pic', which kicked off on Monday with a vote to decide which photo of a great Old Trafford goal will be placed for posterity on the East Stand car park railings.

Opportunities to choose pics of Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Matt Busby will follow later in the week. Today, we want you to consider which image best represents Sir Bobby, the Busby Babe who made his first-team debut in October 1956 as a product of our youth system, bravely resumed his career after the Munich Air Disaster, and then went on to become recognised around the globe as one of the beautiful game's true greats in the 1960s.

For many years, the 1966 World Cup and 1968 European Cup-winning icon topped United's all-time goals and appearances charts on 249 and 758 respectively, until his records were finally broken this century by Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs.

Today, Sir Bobby is a much-loved club ambassador and one of the four stands at Old Trafford - formerly the South Stand - was renamed in his honour in 2016.
