Apollo Tyres
The Covid-19 pandemic has caught the whole world off-guard and has been rapidly spreading, disrupting life across the globe.
In one of Apollo Tyres key markets, India, the pandemic impacted the migrants and daily wage workers, as their lives came to a screeching halt due to the lockdown imposed.
True to its core value of ‘One Family’, Apollo Tyres continued to support its communities and stakeholders across multiple states of India.
To deal with the pandemic, the first step was to ensure that the citizens are aware of Covid-19, how it spreads, precautions to take, etc. Apollo Tyres created awareness through various ways including hoardings and pamphlets in multiple languages, given the diversity of India. The awareness initiatives had clear Do’s and Do Not’s being shared with its communities as soon as the news of the pandemic was out in the country. To further cascade the messages, it effectively used the ‘train the trainer’ model. Apollo Tyres reached out to over a million people under this initiative.
Further, Apollo Tyres provided cooked food for families around the slums in various locations across India. Along with this, it provided 15-day ration support of essential supplies and hygiene kits to people and supported over 10,000 families in the crisis situation.
Due to the lockdown situation across the country, Tuberculosis (TB) patients with no food and medicines became one of the biggest casualties of the pandemic, as they need to consume medicines and show up for scheduled appointments at the tuberculosis unit for health check-ups and to collect medicines. Apollo Tyres ensured that medicines were available to patients with the support of District TB offices, and, at times, also arranged for the supply of nutritious food, as it is crucial for TB patients.
Apollo Tyres continued to ‘Go the Distance’ to help people even as we encouraged them to ‘Maintain the___Distance’
