Herrera plans to add more goals to his game

Ander Herrera wants to help his Manchester United team-mates by contributing more goals in the second half of the season.

The Spaniard has scored twice this term and both goals came away from home in December, when he netted in our 2-2 draw at Southampton and the 5-1 win over Cardiff City during Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first game in charge.

The Reds have netted 17 goals in our caretaker manager’s first six matches - all wins - ahead of Saturday’s visit of Brighton & Hove Albion to Old Trafford.

In an exclusive interview for Saturday's edition of United Review, Herrera is asked whether he sees more opportunities to score coming his way in the next few months, given how many chances the team have been creating.

“Of course, if you’re close to the opposition box, you have more chances to score goals,” the in-form midfielder explains. “I also had a good opportunity against Bournemouth and, for Paul’s first goal, I was there to put the ball in if it was needed, so I will try to help the team in that aspect.”

'OUR FANS WANT TO SEE US SCORING GOALS'

United have been in good goalscoring form at Old Trafford, netting 13 times in the last four home matches, and Herrera is quick to point out our fans should expect to see goal-filled displays at home.

“It’s what our fans want,” says Ander in United Review. “They want us creating chances and scoring goals. But I say the same always, as long as you’re ready to help the team, to give everything, to tackle, to run and to try to win every match, then they will always support you.”

'MY FOCUS IS TO BE USEFUL AND HELPFUL'

Our no.21 has impressed in the heart of midfield during our sequence of victories and is happy with how he’s performed on a personal level.

“Good, I am happy,” he states in the matchday programme. “I’m healthy with no injuries and I’m always ready to help the team in training and matches.

“Of course, when the team wins and you participate, you’re even happier. You just want to be useful and helpful to the team – that’s always my focus.”
