Touting
Manchester United step-up work to tackle illegal distribution of match tickets
Under English & Welsh law - The Criminal Justice & Public Order Act 1994 - it is illegal to sell, or to offer to sell, or transfer tickets to matches without the authorisation of the club, or outside of one of our authorised processes.
The above is commonly referred to as ticket touting, and Manchester United is committed to eradicating this issue and will continue to identify and sanction any individuals who are selling tickets at inflated prices or transferring tickets outside of unofficial processes/channels.
Last season the club issued more than 2,000 ticket touting related sanctions following intelligence gathered by our dedicated team. This work included tracking tickets listed on a variety of websites and social media platforms, as well as targeted activity at both home and away matches.
Any individuals that are found to have offered their ticket for sale will be subject to an internal investigation and sanction process and in some cases, the matter will be reported to the Police for criminal prosecution.
If you have been offered tickets or have any information in relation to tickets being offered outside of authorised channels, please report this to the club via touting@manutd.co.uk. All information is treated in the strictest confidence and is never disclosed to third parties.
AUTHORISED CHANNELS FOR TICKET PURCHASE/DISTRIBUTION
Purchasing Tickets: The only legitimate way to obtain tickets is through the Manchester United website and/or either our Ticket & Hotel Breaks partner Sportsbreaks, or our four official hospitality providers who are listed below. Please note that it is not authorised for any tickets to be sold, or transferred via Twitter, or Facebook, or any website not listed below
Cancelling or Transferring Tickets: We understand that people’s plans change, and they cannot always attend every game. This season to give fans more flexibility and choice:
1. By adding flexi ticket to the basket during the booking flow, United Members can return tickets using 'resale' within the app for a full refund. If a flexi ticket is not purchased, tickets are still able to be listed for 'resale' within the app and, subject to the ticket re-selling, we will deduct a £5 cancellation fee from the refund. Note, resale is only activated for Premier League games as standard.
2. If a Season Ticket holder cannot attend a game they can 1) return their ticket and receive a refund using the resale option online, 2) forward tickets to a United Member or 3) donate the cost of their ticket to the Manchester United Foundation. Help and guidance on how to do this is available here.
