Born in Nottingham, the lively attacker was formerly with Derby County.

Malachi represents Scotland at youth level. In 2023/24, he enjoyed four outings for United's Under-21s and scored four goals in 13 appearances for the title-winning Under-18s. His strike against Everton was the last of the regular season for Adam Lawrence's side, before the national final against Chelsea. Sharpe netted four times in 13 Premier League 2 appearances in 2024/25.
