The midfielder was a key part of his country's run to third place at the Under-17 World Cup in November 2023. A transfer from Guidars FC in his homeland was sealed in order for Sekou to head to Manchester and begin his adaptation to life in England. Sekou scored his first goal for United's Under-21s in March 2025, in an away Premier League 2 fixture at Leeds United. Having recovered from a nasty facial injury which caused a game at Tamworth to be abandoned in August 2025, Kone joined Lausanne-Sport on loan the following February, for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
