Lucy Newell signed her first professional contract with United in October 2024, on her 18th birthday.

She progressed through the ranks at West Bromwich Albion, where she was dual registered with the Reds throughout the 2023/24 season, the same season she won our Women's Academy Players' Player of the Year award.

Lucy has since taken in loan spells with Blackburn Rovers, Birmingham City and, most recently, Crystal Palace, as progresses towards her first competitive first-team involvement.

The defender has also represented England in multiple age categories at youth level.
