Mainoo made his senior bow in January 2023 but would have to wait until later that year to really make his breakthrough, following a full league debut at Everton. The precocious talent then became one of the first names on the team sheet, scoring memorable goals against Wolves, Liverpool and – in the Emirates FA Cup final at Wembley – Manchester City. After helping England to the final of Euro 2024, Mainoo’s second season was a little less breakneck, but our no.37 showed his class when curling home a sumptuous late equaliser against Lyon, at a raucous Old Trafford.
