United learn Champions League opponents

Thursday 26 August 2021 18:15

Manchester United's Champions League fate has been decided at the group-stage draw in Istanbul on Thursday.

The Reds are embarking on the road to St Petersburg and, after being last to come out of Pot Two, have been drawn in Group F alongside Villarreal, Atalanta and Young Boys.

The exact dates and kick-off times for the fixtures are not set to be confirmed until Saturday, while the UEFA Youth League schedule will mirror that of the first team.

The meeting with Villarreal is a rerun of last season's Europa League final and presents the perfect opportunity to avenge the agonising penalty shoot-out defeat to the Spanish side.

Atalanta, Amad's former club, represent first-time opponents for United, while our only previous encounters with Swiss side Young Boys came in 2018.
