Papa John's Trophy clash arranged

Thursday 26 August 2021 16:59

Manchester United's Papa John's Trophy match against Bradford City has been arranged for Tuesday 21 September.

The tie against the Bantams is expected to attract a healthy crowd as the Under-21s look to get some points on the board after a 3-2 reverse to Lincoln City this week.

It will kick off at 19:00 BST with details of MUTV coverage to follow in due course.

Sunderland are the other club in Group F of the competition, which always provides invaluable experience for our youngsters, and they are the current holders after beating Tranmere Rovers at Wembley last season.

The top two sides qualify for the knockout stages.

Neil Wood's side fell 3-0 down at Sincil Bank, to a hat-trick by Anthony Scully, but rallied late on with goals from Charlie McNeill and Bjorn Hardley.

However, Hannibal was sent off in stoppage time as the Reds were chasing an equaliser that would have forced a penalty shoot-out.
