Bruno Fernandes

Fernandes scores on 100th appearance

Bruno Fernandes marked his 100th appearance for Manchester United and scored in the first half against Arsenal.

The Portuguese star, who signed for the Reds in January 2020, was selected in caretaker manager Michael Carrick's starting XI to face Mikel Arteta's side, in the 20:15 GMT kick-off.

He found the net to cancel out Emile Smith Rowe's highly controversial opener, that was awarded by VAR despite David De Gea being down injured.

Bruno is the 222nd different United player to reach that particular landmark and there can't have been many to have done it in a shorter time-frame.

According to research conducted by United Review, our official matchday programme, Fernandes has played in a stunning 96 per cent of the games in which he's been available to United.

Our no.18 is the only player to feature in all 19 fixtures this season and he'd missed just four matches previously - a trio of cup encounters with LASK, Brighton and Watford, plus the trip to Wolves on the final day of the 2020/21 campaign, when we were preparing for the Europa League final.

From his first 99 matches, the two-time Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year winner has 44 goals, with 21 of those arriving from the penalty spot. Number 45 was racked up against the Gunners.

He also becomes the first Red to score on his 100th outing for the club since Antonio Valencia in April 2012.

Bruno has won an incredible 10 Player-of-the-Month titles, split between six club prizes and four Premier League awards, while he has captained the Reds eight times, most recently during the 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Here are some other landmarks from his stellar Old Trafford career so far...
