Team announced for Gunners game

Caretaker manager Michael Carrick's Manchester United side to take on Arsenal has been confirmed.

The Reds take on the Gunners at a chilly Old Trafford, hoping to climb up the table with a positive result, before Ralf Rangnick takes interim charge against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka's absence means Diogo Dalot starts at right-back, with Alex Telles continuing on the opposite flank with Luke Shaw still out.

There is no Nemanja Matic either in the squad, with the Serbian joining the likes of Raphael Varane, Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani on the sidelines.

Cristiano Ronaldo is recalled in attack, however, and skipper Harry Maguire starts after serving his one-match suspension in the 1-1 draw at Chelsea last weekend.

When asked if it was a straightforward decision to select Maguire ahead of Eric Bailly, Carrick told Amazon Prime: "Yes, of course, he’s the captain of the club and he’s a terrific player – a good presence in the team and a big part of the squad obviously.

"Eric did ever so well the other day [against Chelsea], he was fantastic. I spoke to Eric and explained the reasons for it. He’s fine with that, although he's disappointed because he wants to play of course, That’s what you want when you’re picking teams. You want the ones that are left out to be disappointed.

"It’s natural, but I've got to pick a team and we’re happy with what we’ve gone with."
