May 2022's Inside United is on sale now
The new issue of the club’s official monthly magazine, Inside United, is on sale now with Bruno Fernandes starring on the cover.
Victor Lindelof is another interviewee in the issue, with the centre-back – having recently passed 400 professional club appearances, and not too far off the 200-game milestone for United – giving in-depth insight into his football journey so far, which began at senior level at the age of only 15 and has taken him from Sweden all the way to Manchester United.
“Hopefully I can play many more games and help the team to success,” reflects Victor. “I’m very happy and proud to compete at this level, and to play that many games at this club. I’ve been working for it for a very, very long time.”
David De Gea also features, with his esports venture Rebels Gaming in the spotlight. David has just opened up a smart new headquarters for his team, who compete in Spanish esports and have just achieved some notable success there.
There’s a welcome blast from the past in the magazine’s ‘Players’ section offering too, in the shape of Norman Whiteside. The popular 1980s star burst onto the first-team scene 40 years ago at a record-breaking young age, and proceeded to blaze a precocious trail in the game. We look back fondly on Norm’s Reds career, with the man from Belfast adding some fresh insight of his own.
Forty years is nothing compared to the panoramic view the mag’s main history feature takes, however, with the complete story of United’s hat-tricks beginning way back in 1892, the club’s first-ever season in the Football League.
From the first-ever official hat-trick recorded in club history, we lay out the epic tale of Reds trebles down the ages, touching on the way upon some of the fabled players and mighty deeds in United annals – expect to hear about Jack Rowley, Denis Law, Bobby Charlton, George Best, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, among many other great United goalscorers.
Alongside all the above in the mag, there’s space for a special section dedicated to the FA Youth Cup, with United’s Under-18s having reached the final of the prestigious competition this season. Over the course of an extended feature, the magazine outlines what the competition means to this club (hearing from Nick Cox and Travis Binnion of the Academy), introduces the Under-18s' squad player-by-player, recaps how the young Reds navigated each round in order to set up their final against Nottingham Forest, and delves further into our history and unrivalled success in the tournament.
