The Manchester United Academy have launched a new ‘Friends of the Academy’ initiative designed to share its resources and knowledge with coaches, schools, junior clubs and young players across the North West.

The opportunity provides a unique chance for local clubs and schools to directly engage with Manchester United.

Coaches, of any level, are invited to register here to access a range of fantastic development opportunities including coaching clinics, guest speaker events and access to accredited FA CPD hours.

Grassroots clubs and schools will also be able to share resources and knowledge on player development and ultimately enhance their relationship with the Academy and other junior football clubs.

Building on these relationships will also inform and improve the core Academy programme as the world-leading youth development system continues to thrive.

‘Friends of the Academy’ further showcases the Academy’s dedicated support of the local football ecosystem by bringing the North West grassroots community together to increase expertise and develop the wider game.

The initiative is being led by Manchester United’s Emerging Talent Programme. The ETP is run by Jen Mildenhall and forms a significant part of the core Academy.  A uniquely tailored experience is available to local boys, the programme ensures that the Academy is as accessible as possible to coaches, players, schools and junior clubs.

Offering an unrivalled Manchester United experience, the Academy is passionate about enabling as many people as possible from across the community to benefit from its presence.

The first session, ‘An Introduction to Manchester United Academy’ with Nick Cox, Head of Academy, will be held on Wednesday 4th May at 18:30. All new members of the ‘Friends of the Academy’ programme are welcome to join the online event.

Nick Cox said: “The Friends of the Academy initiative is yet another aspect of our programme that is specifically designed to support the local football ecosystem.

“Involving and engaging with our community is fundamental to everything that we do at the Academy, and we are therefore hugely committed to our presence and activity across the region.

“This unique opportunity to share resources and expertise allows us to create a wider coaching network that will directly benefit and develop junior football across the North West.

“We hope that many coaches, schools and clubs take this fantastic opportunity to directly learn and engage with our world-leading youth development system.”
