United set to smash Youth Cup attendance record

Friday 29 April 2022 14:40

Manchester United have sold a record number of tickets ahead of the upcoming FA Youth Cup final against Nottingham Forest.

The match, which will take place at Old Trafford on Wednesday 11 May (19:30 BST), will see the Reds attempt to claim an unprecedented, record-extending 11th Youth Cup triumph.

And it looks like Travis Binnion's side are going to be cheered on by the biggest crowd the competition has seen in its near 70-year history.

The highest attendance for a Youth Cup game was recorded in March 2007, when the Emirates Stadium welcomed 38,137 supporters to watch Arsenal take on United in the first leg of that year's semi-final.

But the United ticket office can confirm that more tickets have already been sold for the 2022 final between United and Forest.

And with plenty of time still left until the day of the game, there is hope that more tickets can be sold.
Tickets are available via manutd.com/tickets at a cost of just £1, with all proceeds going towards Manchester United Foundation, which works with disadvantaged children across Greater Manchester.

So if you're yet to book your place at Old Trafford, what are you waiting for?

Travis Binnion has developed an exciting side, with Alejandro Garnacho even making his first-team debut during Thursday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea.
Garnacho is not the first youngster to make his senior bow before representing the club in a Youth Cup final. Should he be selected for the game on 11 May, he will join an illustrious list of former Reds that includes Duncan Edwards, George Best, Norman Whiteside and Ryan Giggs.

But United will have to beat a strong Forest outfit if they are to claim the trophy. The East Midlands club's youth side is managed by former Reds coach Warren Joyce, who is known for moulding sides that are punishingly fit with a tireless work-rate.
