Fred scored United's winner and vital third goal in the second half after coming on as a substitute, latching on to Jadon Sancho's lay-off before firing beyond Illan Meslier.

Harry Maguire had opened the scoring for United in the first half, powering home a header from a Luke Shaw corner, before Bruno Fernandes made it two.

United were cruising at the break before two quickfire goals from the home side, although the replacements helped changed the game and another late sub, Anthony Elanga, also got on the scoresheet with only two minutes to go when he slotted beyond Meslier calmly from Fernandes's pass.

In addition, David De Gea had another impressive match between the sticks for Ralf Rangnick's side, producing some vital saves when United were ahead in the first half and in the second half.

Jadon Sancho's two assists added to his recent form for the Reds, as he continues to be an incredibly influential member of the team.

And Paul Pogba looked calm and composed throughout his 67 minutes on the pitch, controlling possession and creating chances for his teammates.

In the end, there were two clear contenders. While Pogba received 7% of the vote and Lindelof 5%, Jadon Sancho took the gong with a healthy 39% of respondents selecting him as Man of the Match.

Bruno Fernandes followed closely behind him with more than a quarter of users choosing the Portuguese after he contributed a goal and an assist.

Sancho made more passes in the final third (21) than anyone else on the pitch while creating three chances, two of which were converted into goals. Not only did he prove a key attacking influence, but he recovered possession on nine occasions, with only Shaw and Wan-Bissaka winning the ball back more often.

What really stood out to fans was Sancho's calm decision-making while under pressure. The No. 25 took on and beat defenders time and time again, and when he found himself in a good position to either pass or shoot, he consistently made the right choice.
