Martinez is United's Player of the Month
Lisandro Martinez has picked up Manchester United's Player of the Month award at the first attempt following his standout performances against Liverpool and Southampton in August.
One of our summer signings, Martinez bounced back after a tough start to his United career to pick up back-to-back Man-of-the-Match awards in the aforementioned games.
The Argentinian international had competition for the first award of the new campaign from fellow defenders Raphael Varane and Tyrell Malacia, but the rugged centre-back came out on top with 84 per cent when a record number of Player of the Month votes were cast in our official poll.

Martinez is building blossoming defensive partnerships with fellow nominees Varane, in the centre, and Malacia on the left-hand side of defence, and it helped us secure a first away clean sheet in the Premier League since last December.
Martinez becomes the first defender to win United's monthly award since Luke Shaw received it twice in a row, in February and March 2021.
It is also the first time a new signing has picked up the award in their initial month with the club since former Reds winger Daniel James back in August 2019 - a testament to Lisandro's instant impact following his transfer from Ajax.
Martinez's centre-back partner, Varane, earned six per cent of your votes, while Malacia garned 10 per cent after his impressive start to life at United.
Congratulations to Lisandro for picking up his first Player-of-the-Month award at the club!
