What was Vini's message to Garna?

Real Madrid v Manchester United is a contest which always throws up clashes between star players.

The meetings in the 1950s saw the likes of Alfredo di Stefano go up against Duncan Edwards, while clashes at the beginning of this century involved Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo test themselves against David Beckham and Paul Scholes.

It was no different on Thursday, even though the fixture between the two sides at the NRG Stadium in Houston was strictly a friendly.

Jude Bellingham and Joselu gave Carlo Ancelotti's side a 2-0 victory, as the teams continued their pre-season preparations in the United States.

But two of the most exciting and electrifiying players on the pitch were the opposing left wingers, in Vinicius Jr and Alejandro Garnacho.

Even at just 23, Vini is one of world football's brightest stars, having scored the winning goal in the Champions League final last May.

Garnacho is four years younger but the young Argentina international has been making waves after a breakthrough debut season at Old Trafford.

And there was a nice moment outside the locker rooms in Texas following the friendly, as Vini presented Garna with his signed no.7 shirt.

The message began 'Para mi hermano' which, in Portuguese, means 'For my brother'.

It then described Garnacho as 'el crack', which is a Spanish football slang term for a superstar player.

Vini finished with his signature, and a beaming Alejandro was clearly delighted to have received the gift.

Garnacho started the game and tested Andriy Lunin with a fizzing effort, before being replaced as part of a raft of changes by Erik ten Hag on 61 minutes.

He will hope to be heavily involved again on Sunday, as the Reds take on Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas for the final match of Tour 2023.
