Garnacho wins PL Goal of the Month award
Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho’s incredible overheard kick against Everton has been voted the Premier League’s Goal of the Month for November.
Shades of Wayne Rooney’s similarly excellent bicycle kick against Manchester City 12 years ago, Garnacho’s acrobatics opened the scoring in our 3-0 victory over the Toffees.
It marked our third win from three in the league last month, the kind of form that prompted fellow team-mate Harry Maguire to be voted Player of the Month, while Erik ten Hag was named Manager of the Month.
After receiving Marcus Rashford's pass on the right, Diogo Dalot stood the ball up towards the back post where Garnacho adjusted his positioning, before executing a finish that defied belief as it sailed into the top corner of Jordan Pickford’s net.
Rashford scored from the spot and Anthony Martial added a third to seal the win, but Alejandro’s opener stole the headlines.
"When I was young, I always tried to do this type of goal," Garnacho told Amazon Prime.
"Diogo [Dalot] did a good cross but a little bit behind me. I heard our fans say, 'Oh my god, this is a goal!'
"It’s an incredible feeling to score this type of goal, maybe one of the best goals in the history of Manchester United. I like to score goals like this!"
Garnacho becomes the second Red to win the award this term, following Bruno Fernandes’s volley at Burnley winning the fan vote back in October.
Alejandro topped a list of worthy contenders that also comprised Mohammed Kudus (West Ham United), Cameron Archer (Sheffield United), Pablo Sarabia (Wolves), Oleksandr Zinchenko (Arsenal), Simon Adingra (Brighton), Raheem Sterling (Chelsea) and Michael Olise (Crystal Palace).
The exciting wide man also topped the club's Goal of the Month poll for the bicycle kick.
Congratulations on your Premier League award, Alejandro!
