Amad returns to training

Friday 08 December 2023 09:45

Amad has returned to training with the Manchester United first-team squad at Carrington.

The Ivory Coast international has been sidelined since sustaining a knee injury during the pre-season tour but was filmed back out on the grass at the end of October.

This is another big, positive step for the 21-year-old, as he has worked with the main group in wet conditions at our base on Thursday.

The sight of the winger back in the fold is an encouraging one, after he had an impressive season out on loan in 2022/23.

He top scored for Sunderland in the Championship, as the Black Cats narrowly missed out on promotion to the top flight.

The Wearsiders parted company with manager Tony Mowbray this week, and Amad replied to the news on X by posting: "Thanks boss and good luck."

Since arriving from Atalanta in 2021, Amad has made three appearances for United in the Premier League and nine in all competitions, scoring in the Europa League against AC Milan at Old Trafford in March of his first year at the club.

It remains to be seen whether he will be fit enough to make the squad for Saturday's 15:00 GMT kick-off against Bournemouth, but manager Erik ten Hag is due to hold a press conference on Friday, when he is likely to provide an update on the team news for the home clash.
