Telles: Squad quality helps with fixtures

Alex Telles insists Manchester United's relentless match schedule hasn't proved to be an issue due to the great quality within the squad.

Following the late start to the 2020/21 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Reds rarely have more than two full days break between games right now as we battle on the Premier League and FA Cup fronts.

The Europa League will be added into the mix in February but Telles insists, injuries permitting, the United squad will be able to cope.

“I think when you've got a really high quality group of players the fixture calendar isn't actually too bad, we've shown this,” he told us.

“Our coach has rotated the side and brought other players in and these players have come in and put in great performances so we haven't really felt the difference.

“Whenever players have come into the team, they come in to do their best and we're all very prepared to come in and contribute.”

Contributing to the cause is exactly what Telles is looking forward to doing whenever he gets his chance. Luke Shaw has been in top form of late, but the Brazilian insists he will continue to give his all to the team every day in training and he’s determined to help make this season a memorable one for the Reds.

“I’m really happy to have played at such big clubs that have always been competing for and winning trophies; everywhere I’ve gone we've won trophies thank god and I hope we can do that here,” he said.

“I think the way I can contribute is to just do my best in my position day-to-day and bring what I’m doing in training into games. You have to respect the players you’re up against and do your best against them.

“I want to help the team by working hard every day in training and bring it onto the pitch and, if we can all do that, then not just individual players win but the whole team wins.”
