Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrives at Manchester United's training ground.

A vital week for the Reds ahead of Tour 2019

This week is an important one for Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – and there are plenty of positives for the boss to focus on ahead of Tour 2019, presented by Aon.

Ole welcomed the majority of the Reds' first-team squad back to the Aon Training Complex on Monday and the weather in Manchester has been perfect over the last few days, providing great conditions for the players to work on their football and fitness before flying out to Perth, Australia, on Sunday.

Summer signing Daniel James has been training with his new team-mates after joining us from Swansea City and he will presumably be in contention to wear the red shirt for the first time, in friendlies Down Under against A-League side Perth Glory and old rivals Leeds United.

All six of United’s pre-season games will be available to watch live on MUTV.

Our other new face Aaron Wan-Bissaka is currently on holiday after representing England at the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, but the right-back will be firmly in Solskjaer’s mind as he continues to execute his plan for the summer.

The Norwegian club legend is also working with Academy graduate Axel Tuanzebe this week, as he is back from successful season-long loans at promoted Aston Villa.

In May, Ole said of Tuanzebe: ”He’s a boy I can’t wait to see in pre-season for us.”

In addition to the returning duo, a number of younger players were also pictured with the first-team squad earlier this week.

Tahith Chong, James Garner and Mason Greenwood will all be familiar names to United fans, having made their senior debuts under Solskjaer last season.

Angel Gomes, who first appeared for the Reds as a 16-year-old in May 2017 and also featured in 2018/19, was pictured in Monday's session too.

Ethan Hamilton – who was present on our tour to the United States last summer - and teenager Dylan Levitt were also seen with the group.

It remains to be seen who will feature in Solskjaer's travelling squad for the start of Tour 2019 on Sunday, when the group will fly from Manchester Airport to arrive in Australia on Monday.

After the two aforementioned friendlies in Perth, United will face International Champions Cup games in Asia against Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur, before heading to Norway to play Solskjaer’s hometown club Kristiansund.

The Reds will then round off the pre-season schedule with another International Champions Cup fixture, this time against AC Milan in Cardiff.
