Andre Onana says joining Manchester United is an honour and a privilege, in his exclusive first interview with club media.

Onana signed for the Reds from Internazionale on Thursday, a move which he believes takes him to 'one of the biggest clubs in the world'.

The goalkeeper’s excitement is clear to see in a short teaser clip, contained within our open training edit, from Friday's session at The Pingry School training base in New Jersey.

“I’m very excited. For me, it’s a big honour. It’s a big privilege to be part of this big club, part of this family,” Andre said.

“Of course, Manchester United is one of the biggest clubs in the world and I have some friends who were playing here.

“I also had the opportunity to work with Edwin van der Sar when I was playing for Ajax back in the day, so I know quite a lot about this big club.”

Onana is just the second player from his country to represent the Reds and only the 10th African overall.

He is the first United goalkeeper to hail from the continent and the 27-year-old admits signing for the club is a cause of huge pride among his family.

“Yeah, they are very proud. They are very proud of me and everything, for me and my country.

“For me, it’s something big, it’s big news. I have all the support from my brothers from Cameroon. I’m very happy and all of them they are proud of me.
