Ole names his side for Brighton encounter

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named his Manchester United side to face Brighton & Hove Albion in our first away game of the new Premier League season.

The boss made 10 changes to his line-up for the midweek Carabao Cup third-round victory at Luton Town, with only skipper Harry Maguire retained from the home defeat to Crystal Palace.

He was always going to shuffle his pack again and that has indeed been the case.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Nemanja Matic and Mason Greenwood are brought in to the team that took on Palace, with Greenwood strengthening his claims by scoring as a substitute at Kenilworth Road.

Tim Fosu-Mensah, Scott McTominay and Daniel James have been replaced, with the first two among the substitutes, along with new boy Donny van de Beek.

"The boys knew we were a couple of weeks behind in preparation time and it showed," said Ole. “We’ve worked hard, some of them have been on internationals but we weren’t ready from the start.

“Obviously, Palace were quicker than us to every first ball and second ball, and stronger. But we’ve had a good week, and had a good game against Luton. So more minutes, and I think we should be ready.“

Brighton: Ryan; Lewis, Dunk, Webster; Lamptey, Lallana, Alzate, March; Trossard, Connolly, Maupay.

Subs: Steele, Bernardo, Burn, Veltman, Gross, Molumby, Jahanbakhsh.

United: De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Matic, Pogba; Greenwood, Fernandes, Rashford; Martial.

Substitutes: Henderson, Bailly, Fosu-Mensah, Fred, Lingard, McTominay, van de Beek.

The new season is here. Our 2020/21 home, away and third kits are available now from United Direct.
