Bruno Fernandes and Juan Mata have joined forces with David De Gea to purchase shares in the Spaniard’s esports team, Rebels Gaming.

Launched in November 2021, Rebels Gaming aim to capitalise on the latest technologies available to young people in the digital age.

Back in April, our no.1 showed club-media cameras around the Rebels Gaming HQ and further expressed his ambition to impart the lessons of his professional career onto the players within the esports team.

Now, just under a year on from its inception, Rebels Gaming has been further bolstered by the inclusion of one of David’s former team-mates and a current Red.

Mata and Fernandes, who have both been vocal supporters of the business in the past, have officially acquired shares within Rebels Gaming.

Mata is currently plying his trade with Turkish side Galatasaray, and is motivated to get started in the esports industry.

“I am delighted to be part of this adventure, and even more so, if it is with my friend David De Gea,” he said. “It's a new world for me and I really want to learn about this sector.”

Bruno inherited Mata’s no.8 shirt at United following the Spaniard’s summer exit, and has been a key member of Erik ten Hag’s side so far in the 2022/23 campaign.

Upon joining forces with Mata and De Gea, he said: “Esports is a new way of competing and that motivates me and catches my attention.

“I've seen David [De Gea] enjoying the Rebels games and now I will be delighted to do it by his side as part of the project.”
