How Bruno rewarded a key worker at Old Trafford

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes was humbled to honour a key worker last weekend, by providing free tickets to the Premier League match against Southampton at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old recently posted an appeal on social media for supporters to nominate fellow fans, writing: “This pandemic has been a very difficult moment, and we’ve only been able to get to this point due to the exceptional work of some people. If you know any of them, tag them in the comments and write their story. I have two tickets to giveaway for Man United as a thank you.”

Fernandes was inundated with responses and it must have been hard to identify just one key worker to reward, but in the end it was United fan Tom George who got the pair of tickets.
Bruno rewarded a key worker with two free tickets to the Southampton match.
Tom was put forward by his partner Bethany, who wrote: “Tom is my boyfriend who worked all throughout the pandemic as a NHS worker within COVID clinics, he never had a day off and helped so many people. I’m so proud of him and your team kept him going on those tough days, so thank you.”

While the 1-1 draw against Southampton was frustrating, after Jadon Sancho’s first-half opener was cancelled out by Che Adams’ second-half riposte, Tom had a great day at Old Trafford.

After the game, the Reds supporter posted a selfie from the ground with this message to our Portuguese magnifico. “A huge thank you to @B_Fernandes8 for today! Really was an incredible gesture and amazing seats. Thank you so much for the experience. We’re Man United and we’re never gonna stop, the good times will come back one day!”
To top off his experience, Tom then received this reply from our no.18: “Thank you once again @tomejgeorge for all you have done during the pandemic.

“Unfortunately we weren’t able to get the result we wanted, but I am glad to have been able to offer you something back and that you enjoyed your trip to OT. We stick together, we keep pushing.”

MUCH-DESERVED RECOGNITION
