Bruno has his say on the top-four race

Bruno Fernandes says Manchester United can finish in the Premier League’s top four if we think about ourselves, and not anybody else.

The Reds are looking to bounce back against Wolves on Saturday, after consecutive defeats to Brighton and West Ham cut our advantage over Liverpool in fifth to just one point.

Our arch-rivals have played a game more but are currently on a six-match winning streak, as they aim to pile the pressure on United and third-placed Newcastle.

The quest for Champions League football remains in the hands of Erik ten Hag’s side though and nine points from the final four games will ensure our position among Europe’s elite next season.

Fernandes and his team-mates were aiming for more at the beginning of the campaign but he points out that top four and a trophy – or perhaps two – would equal success as we continue the process under Ten Hag.

Bruno Fernandes, our Player of the Month, is great value as he reviews April and looks ahead to five crucial games…

“We started the season and we knew that we were going to go through a process with a new manager, new players coming in,” Bruno told club media.

“You know that it's not going to be like quick and done. We won the Carabao Cup and we have a chance to win another trophy.

“And even on the top four, I think for us, we wanted and we knew that we could be there. We had the qualities to be there. And our aim in this club has to be even bigger and it was bigger.

“But because we had up and downs during this season - probably too often, probably we didn't quite get into the positions we want, but we are in the top four.

“We can hold our position by thinking about ourselves, about doing our job, about getting our results, and not focusing on anyone else.”

United return to home soil this weekend after playing six of our last seven fixtures away from Old Trafford.

Our record at the Theatre of Dreams under Ten Hag has been formidable – 12 wins and three draws since the opening-day defeat to Brighton – and Bruno sees the Reds support as key in getting us over the line ahead of the visit of Wolves and the upcoming home games with Chelsea and Fulham.

“I think everyone knows how important the fans are here and how good they have been with us during this season, how much they've been believing in us.

The Reds are back on home soil for a must-win game as the race for top four builds towards its climax.

“I think the connection with us is growing and growing even more and you know, the best feeling I have with these fans is whenever you have a bad moment, they are always there for you.

“So I'm pretty sure that Saturday will be full again - for them to believe in us until the last minute that we can win that game and achieve our goals until the end of the season.”
