Fernandes dazzles in Euro 2024 warm-up
Bruno Fernandes effortlessly transferred his recent Manchester United form onto the international stage on Tuesday evening, when he scored twice to help Portugal overcome Finland 4-2.
Our club captain was introduced at half-time, along with club colleague Diogo Dalot, and within 10 minutes had powered a wonderful first-time strike beyond the Finnish goalkeeper, Lukas Hradecky.
That made the score 3-0, following first-half goals from Manchester City's Ruben Dias and Liverpool's Diogo Jota.
A double from former Norwich City forward Teemu Pukki reduced the visitors' deficit to one goal with just under 15 minutes remaining, but Bruno added to his personal tally in the 84th minute to make the final minutes more comfortable for the Selecao.
Different number for Dalot at Euro 2024
ArticlePortugal have announced their squad positions for the tournament in Germany.
The cameo continues an impressive month for Fernandes, who was one of United's outstanding players in the magnificent Emirates FA Cup final win over Manchester City.
Our no.8 drew worldwide acclaim for the deft assist he provided for Kobbie Mainoo at Wembley, in a move that proved the decisive moment of the match.
Two days before that, Bruno was confirmed as the winner of the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for the third time. Only David De Gea and Cristiano Ronaldo (four) boast more wins.

The goalkeeper played just one first-team match for the Reds during 2023/24 - a 4-2 win over Newport County in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup - but is first choice for his country.
Italy, who are reigning European champions after beating England in the Euro 2020 final (delayed until 2021), managed 11 shots on goal, but Bayindir and his defensive colleagues stood strong.
