Different number for Dalot at Euro 2024
Diogo Dalot will be wearing a new shirt number for Portugal at Euro 2024.
The defender, who is no.20 at Manchester United, has been allocated the no.5 slot for his country.
It is a number he has worn before for Roberto Martinez's men and also during his loan spell at AC Milan, during the 2020/21 season.
Our Players' Player of the Year has also had the traditional no.2 and no.3 jerseys more commonly associated with full-backs during his international career.
United skipper Bruno Fernandes, the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year, will don the same shirt he possesses at Old Trafford: no.8. The 29-year-old wore no.18 until 2022, when Juan Mata left and Fernandes assumed the Spaniard's number.
Former Reds star Cristiano Ronaldo is, unsurprisingly, Portugal's no.7.
Martinez's team are among the favourites to lift the trophy after a flawless qualifying campaign.
The 2016 winners will start in Group F, alongside Czech Republic, Georgia and Turkey, and have a warm-up game against Finland tonight (Tuesday, 19:45 BST). Fernandes is tipped to start while Dalot is predicted to be on the bench.
Meanwhile, Altay Bayindir will hope to feature when Turkey tackle Italy in a friendly in Bologna this evening (20:00 BST).
