Why Bruno's out on his own in the Premier League
Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes has won the Premier League Player of the Matchweek award - for the fourth time this season!
Our Portuguese magnifico was shortlisted alongside seven other players after his inspired performance in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Fernandes was nominated after scoring a cool penalty past Dean Henderson before setting up Benjamin Sesko’s winning goal at the Stretford End.
A public vote was hosted on the Premier League’s official website and Bruno has now been declared the winner, for the fourth time from 28 matchweeks.
Fernandes picked up 54 per cent of the fan vote, while his closest challenger, Liverpool's Hugo Ekitike, had 25 per cent.
OUT ON HIS OWN
Our skipper has won the award more than any other top-flight player this season, which underlines his impressive form.
It also adds weight to the growing belief that Bruno will be among the favourites for any upcoming Player of the Year conversations.
Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu and Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo are the only other players who have won the award twice, according to the Premier League’s records.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Bruno offered his thoughts on Wednesday’s trip to St. James’ Park: “It’s very tough to play away at Newcastle. You know their fans, you know their team. They're very aggressive, they create a great atmosphere.
“It's probably one of the best stadiums in terms of atmosphere to play with. But we are in a good moment, we are in a good run, we have our aims, we want to be at the top, we just got into the top three and it's going to be a massive game for us to get another win.
Bruno: The first 15 minutes are always chaotic!
Bruno Fernandes previews Wednesday’s mouthwatering trip to Newcastle, when speaking to Premier League Productions…
“We just have to focus all our energies because we are not used this season to playing every three days and we haven't done many times, so we have to recover well, get all the information on board and then go there.
“And then understanding that the first 10 to 15 minutes of the game normally are chaotic because they create that atmosphere and create that intensity in the game that we need to be prepared for that. And then play our game as we do in every other game.”
