Robson's rallying call for Reds

Manchester United legend Bryan Robson has issued his own rallying call for Erik ten Hag's squad ahead of our clash with Brentford in the Premier League later today (15:00 BST kick-off).

The Reds are bidding to bounce back following successive home defeats against Crystal Palace and Galatasaray over the last seven days, and welcome Thomas Frank's side to M16.

In what has been a challenging start to the new campaign, Ten Hag's side has been affected by injuries and thus failed to build any real momentum so far.

Robson, however, believes talking counts for nothing as soon as you step out onto the pitch, with our sole focus on returning to winning ways this weekend, before the latest international break.
“It is,” responded the 66-year-old, when quizzed if the expectation of wearing a United shirt can wearr heavy. “The expectation is that United need to be winning trophies, but that’s why players join this club.

“You come here to win things because that’s the tradition here.

“When you’re going through a bad time, it’s an opportunity to show your character, show your fight and you move forward.

“We can still achieve a lot this season because there’s so much time left in the season. We must all keep believing in that.”
Having enjoyed a brilliant record at home last term, under Ten Hag, most inside the Theatre of Dreams will be hoping United can lay down something of a marker in a bid to put our troubled start behind us.

It's a sentiment which was echoed by Robson as the Bees come to town, with the former Reds midfielder insisting our focus must now be on looking ahead rather than reflecting on a disappointing opening to 2023/24.

“That’s all you can do,” Bryan added. “You can’t do anything about what has gone on before. You can only achieve things in the time that lies ahead of you.

“I’ve always believed that there’s no point at all in moping about things that have been and gone in the past.

“What you’ve got to do is think to yourself: this doesn’t feel good, I don’t want results like this, I have to look forward and I want great performances from myself to fit within great performances from the team. Then you move forward.”
