Casemiro and Martinez post heartfelt messages

Manchester United duo Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez have posted heartfelt messages to our supporters, following the completion of their first season as Reds.

The pair are the latest to express their good feeling and gratitude following their maiden campaign at the club, after fellow summer signing Antony – who missed the Emirates FA Cup final – posted on social media on Saturday night.

Both Casemiro and Martinez also arrived in M16 prior to the start of the term and have each enjoyed a fruitful debut year on the pitch at United, while quickly becoming fans’ favourites among the supporters.

The former – who told us that he thinks we’re on the right track heading into next season – echoed those thoughts in a reflective social-media message on Monday, while sharing his appreciation for the affection he has received since swapping Madrid for Manchester nearly 10 months ago.

“Thank you all for this first great season and, above all, for your love towards my family and towards me,” Casemiro said.

“I feel at home. I read you and I hear everyone say that Manchester United is back, but this is only the beginning of our journey.

“The greatness of this club and this shield must force us to demand more of ourselves. Much more. Here, defeat is not acceptable, and the glory days must return. For that, I have come.

“Come on, United!!”

Casemiro was at the heart of United’s strong finish to the Premier League campaign, and played the entirety of our narrow FA Cup final loss to Manchester City last weekend.

Meanwhile, unfortunately, Martinez has been out of action since suffering a season-ending foot injury in April’s Europa League quarter-final first leg against Sevilla.

The defender, who had enjoyed a stellar first term in red up to that point, has undergone successful surgery and been well enough to attend several of his team’s games towards the end of the term, including the weekend’s trip to Wembley.

He also used social media on Monday to reflect on United’s year, look ahead to 2023/24 and recognise our incredible fans.

“It's all part of the process, we keep our heads up and are proud because this group gave their all until the last second,” Lisandro began.

“I'm certain that the good and positive thing about all of this is that we'll come back stronger!

“I finish my first season at this amazing club feeling really fortunate and happy to be part of the United family. Thank you very much to everyone and see you soon!”
