Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Confirmed: United team to face Burnley

Sunday 18 April 2021 15:00

Manchester United's team to face Burnley in the Premier League at Old Trafford has been announced.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made five changes to the side that beat Granada in Europe last Thursday, including a revamp in defence. Three alterations in the rearguard mean the regular back five for league matches has been reformed.

Dean Henderson is back in goal for the visit of the Clarets, replacing David De Gea who kept a clean sheet against Granada in our 2-0 home Europa League win. Club captain Harry Maguire, who was suspended for the visit of the Spaniards, is restored to the centre of defence and the role of skipper.

Luke Shaw also missed the European win due to a ban but is back against Burnley at the expense of Alex Telles.
In midfield, Scott McTominay, who was another absentee last Thursday night against Granada because of a one-game suspension, comes back alongside Fred.

As for the attack, Marcus Rashford has proved his fitness after initially being a doubt. The striker was on the bench against Granada but wasn’t needed and the manager was delighted not to have to throw him into the action as our no.10 was nursing a foot injury.

Rashford replaces Edinson Cavani, who scored the opener last Thursday and the Uruguayan's omission is the only change from our last Premier League outing against Spurs last weekend when we won 3-1.
Here's the side Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has selected:

United: Henderson; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Shaw; Fred, McTominay; Greenwood, Fernandes, Pogba; Rashford.

Substitutes: De Gea, Telles, Tuanzebe, Williams, James, Mata, Matic, Van de Beek, Cavani.

United have not beaten Burnley in the Premier League at Old Trafford since February 2015, with the last four home games against Sean Dyche’s side ending in three draws and one defeat.

But the Clarets are in seventeenth position in the table, just above the drop zone, and have lost their last two league matches.

Dyche has made two changes from the XI that was beaten at home to Newcastle last Sunday, as Charlie Taylor and Jack Cork come in for Erik Pieters and Matej Vydra. United Academy graduate Phil Bardsley is on the bench.
