De Gea up to 15th on United's appearances table

David De Gea moved up a place in Manchester United’s all-time appearances table on Wednesday night, after his stellar performance in the 3-1 Premier League win over Brentford.

The Spaniard was frustrated not to keep a clean sheet against the Bees, but he could take solace from another outstanding individual display after registering seven saves in total. And with three points in the bag, plus an improved team performance, it was a positive night for the Reds. 

De Gea has now made 468 United appearances and his latest outing moved him one clear of our legendary former striker Mark Hughes, into 15th place on a list of bona fide Old Trafford icons.

David should overtake two more United heroes following the impending international break as well: our in-form goalkeeper is currently two games shy of George Best and three of Brian McClair. 

There is a very good chance that De Gea will move into 11th place by the end of this season, too, with Roy Keane (480) and Arthur Albiston (485) both within reach.

De Gea's next appearance is expected to be against West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday. Line-ups for that Premier League game will be announced at 14:00 GMT.
